Dear Family,
The inception of our family reunion came as a thought while sitting down having Thanksgiving dinner in Long Island, N.Y. with Lucille and Bubby Capers. While eating Lucille said, “I don’t really know all of my family like I should,” through this statement, a get together was formulated in New York in 1987 and then transferred to Johns Island, South Carolina. We had our first picnic.
Psalm 90:1 states, “O lord you have been our refuge through all generations”. This verse has enabled me to reflect on how great and comforting our Lord is, he gives us strength to do his will. In this instance, it’s bringing family together to meet, greet, and worship. Our ancestors who have proceeded us in death must be smiling from up above, that we were able to make connections and keep the love of the family growing.
All thanks and praises to God for the Cain-Freeman families, for the love, dedication, and commitment to this wonderful event. I give special thanks to the presidents and officers who spend their time in planning and making our family reunion a joyous and memorable occasion.
